Founded in 1991, Leonardo is a student run magazine that focuses on the aspects of showcasing student talents throughout Central New Mexico Community College. This magazine looks to display the literary and fine art works of our talented and hardworking students. The editors of Leonardo work closely with our faculty advisers to seek and accept submissions for exceptional editions to be published each Spring. Currently, Leonardo is part of CNM’s Honors program. The class is: Honors (HNRS) 1120, section U01, CRN 85129. Class is on Fridays from 12:00pm to 2:45pm.

Jessica Mills
Faculty Adviser

Jessica Mills has taught at Central New Mexico Community College since 2009. Jessica started publishing her writing as an undergraduate at the University of Florida and has since continued by independently publishing zines, contributing chapters to anthologies, writing a monthly column for Maximum Rocknroll (2000-2010), and authoring My Mother Wears Combat Boots (AK Press, 2007). Every October, you can catch her tabling at Albuquerque Zine Fest, doing zine readings, and leading workshops.
Fiona Page
Managing Editor

Fiona Page is an English major with a taste for the dark side of the literary world. She enjoys writing short horror stories and terrifying new acquaintances with her writing. She can be found with her nose in a book or haunting whichever library is closest. Her short stories have been published in Leonardo, Flash Fiction Magazine, and PTK’s honors anthology, Nota Bene. This is her second year as a student editor.
Maria Pearson

Maria Pearson is an English and Psychology dual-major who frequents the esoteric, horrific, and scientific. She’s artistically multi-disciplinary; her photography has been exhibited in the Albuquerque Museum’s Focus on Youth show, the North Fourth Art Center’s “N4th Gallery”, and her writing in Leonardo and Scholastic’s Southwest Golden Key Awards. Her first love is Gothic fiction, and she’s committed to shattering the masculine literary canon. She is often with pen and paper, conjuring new and strange ideas. This is her second year as a student editor.
Megan Martinez-Jones

Megan of Northeast Albuquerque was born right in the Land of Enchantment, and is pursuing her Associates in Cosmetology at CNM. She has been attending on and off since 2014. In 2023 she started working in higher education which prompted her to attend CNM full time. After finishing her Cosmetology Associates, she plans to transfer to UNM for her Bachelors in Communication. Her long-term goal with these degrees is to become a college professor of Cosmetology and teach other adults her trade to pass on her passion to the next generations of Cosmetologists.
Anna Nelson
Student Editor

Anna Nelson is a North Dakota native and 2020 graduate of North Dakota State University. She received an Associate’s in Fine Arts and a Bachelor’s of Science with an emphasis in English, as well as Women and Gender Studies. Anna moved to New Mexico in 2021 and has spent the last five years working with a wide range of students from kindergartners to UNM athletes. She currently works as an English tutor at CNM, spending her free time baking and taking care of her cats, Chimi and Yum-Yum.
Nova
Student Editor

Nova is a Film and Theatre double-major from Virginia Beach who ended up in Albuquerque by lucky accident. She is an academic essayist and prospective screenwriter, attempting to balance the oft-stressful research topics in academia with joyful, artistic collaborative film-making. She is currently developing her first short film for festival submission and co-stage managing for CNM’s 2025 spring theatre production of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’s Everybody between bouncing around the theatre department as a work study assistant. Her top three film/TV recs are I Saw the TV Glow (2024), Sanctuary (2022), and Interview with the Vampire (2022 – present).
Nora Page
Student Editor

Nora Page is an English major who loves film and photography. Due to her hobbies constantly needing some kind of editing software, she’s working towards her goal to learn to use every Adobe application she can get her hands on, no matter how hard it seems. She has one short documentary under her belt thus far but plans for many more. This is her first year as a Leonardo Student Editor.
